This is our very first podcast episode! It includes learning tips and a short personal story about communication. You can find the podcast on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
Five ways you can improve your listening with podcasts:
Sit back and enjoy! Listen to simply to understand the message.
Note down new words. First, try to understand from the context. After attempting to do that, take some time to look them up. Practice using those words so that you don't forget them. You can do this by writing your own sentences.
Practice shadowing. Shadowing is a form of imitation. Choose a sentence from the podcast, listen to it closely and imitate the intonation, the word linking, and other elements of pronunciation.
Transcribe parts of the podcast. Choose a very small section to practice this.
Summarize what you heard. This is the best thing you can do! Turn listening into a speaking or writing activity. If you have a friend who is also learning English, explain to each other what you got out of a podcast! This is a great way to check your understanding.
